Both topics have major changes pending. Congress passed legislation in 2005 that makes major revisions to the Truth in Lending Act and Regulation Z. Regulations are being drafted to implement the changes. During 2005 Secretary Jackson, the head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, announced his "Road to Reform," a plan to revise Regulation X. HUD held hearings around the U.S. during the summer of 2005. Revisions, based on the results of the hearings, are expected soon.
For each topic, participants receive:
An thorough update on the status of pending revisions; and
A review of frequently cited violations.
The topics reviewed in the program include:
Truth in Lending Act (Regulation Z) - includes recent revisions contained in the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005; and
Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (Regulation X).
WHY?
Violations of these laws can lead to:
Civil monetary penalties;
Lawsuits; and
Regulatory reimbursement.
WHO?
The program is designed for loan processors, clerks, loan officers and others in the lending area that need a basic understanding of Truth in Lending and RESPA.
