You have issued debit cards to your customers. Regulation E provides the foundation for your error resolution procedures. But the framework involved for your program may vary because of your contract with Visa or MasterCard.

    About the speaker:
    Mr. Andy Zavoina, CRCM, is a consultant with the Glia Group, best known for its involvement with BankersOnline.com.

    Andy has been in finance and banking for 22 years. Over 20 years were with a holding company with two Central Texas community banks that had $534 million in assets, 89 branches spanning Texas and nearly 500 ATMs. After starting in loan workouts, Mr. Zavoina has been a consumer, commercial and real estate lender and managed those departments as well as being the banks first Webmaster. He was responsible for compliance- management, -auditing, and -training for both banks.

    Andy is a past Chairman of the American Bankers Association's Compliance Executive Committee. He was the 2003 recipient of the American Bankers Association's Distinguished Service Award for his involvement and accomplishments in the field of regulatory compliance management. He currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the ABA's Compliance Magazine, Compliance Action magazine, is a member of the ABA's Compliance School Board and is a BankersOnline Guru. He also served on the Texas Bankers Association's Compliance Committee.

    David has spent over 11 years in the card industry, spending the last 8 years involved directly with compliance. He currently serves as a Vice President in the compliance department of a major US bank with more than 10 million debit cards and 8 million credit cards in the market. Previous to that he spent 6 years at a 3rd-party processor where he served as compliance manager, administering compliance on debit and credit card issues for over 7000 banks and credit unions. He started at a top 10 credit card issuer and where he worked with the compliance officer, helping to manage the compliance issues that confront a card issuer with $13 billion in receivables. Throughout that time, he has gained extensive knowledge of both Visa and MasterCard operating regulations with special emphasis on dispute resolution, fraud, and merchant standard practices by both doing and managing these processes. David currently resides in Seattle, Washington.
